Vivy -Flourite Eye's Song- {Wk 6}
"Vivy -Flourite Eye's Song-" is a beautifully written and animated series about the progression of androids specifically in the musical field. The series focuses on one android named Vivy who becomes a vital piece in the preservation or destruction of humankind. While some of the imagery is dark, the overall message about the power of music and the concept of a utopia being brought to ruin by AI is such an amazing and unique story. I really enjoyed watching the passing of time and how Vivy is a constant factor throughout the time period. Furthermore, the viewer can watch Vivy slowly change and become more and more "human" even as she becomes almost obsolete. The transition from utopian to dystopian society and even the slight differences when changing the timeline was so interesting. Time travel is so intriguing and I really love the idea of sci-fi and music becoming so intertwined! Other great animes with the same genres are known as "Listeners" and "Takt Op. Destiny." If you're interested in futuristic themed anime and music, I definitely recommend both "Vivy" and these other two anime! You'll really enjoy the music composed and used in all three animes and the stories themselves are so entertaining and well done. You won't regret it!
From the anime, several connections between what was described and the reality of Japan itself is fairly interesting. The progress of artificial intelligence and androids in Japan isn't as far along as the Japan within the anime, but it goes to show how far along Japan is in technological advances. I'd like to mention the beauty of Japanese music which is both relaxing and invigorating whether it be a classical melody or J-pop! I really do appreciate the animes that aren't so pleasant and giddy as the more honest and realistic ones show how people in Japan think even with simple topics like food or more complex ones like technology and politics. A lot of vernacular and cultural experience can be gained without even stepping foot in Japan when watching "Vivy."
