Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken {Wk 4}

 

This anime is one of the few isekai anime that doesn't follow a simple plot line. It's a very enjoyable series with a somewhat unique take on how being reincarnated into a new world would happen. Following Rimuru Tempest, previously known as 37-year-old Satoru Mikami, the audience watches as a simple slime gains enormous powers through becoming the friend of one of the four original dragons of the world and slaying monsters and absorbing their abilities. At first, the anime is a bit simple with the power gap being too big between the humans and monsters Rimuru faces. However, the show delves into all types of monsters and their evolutions as well as political relationships with other countries in this fantasy world. It's such a great show with not just overwhelming power with the main character but actual training and hardships. I definitely recommend anyone who enjoys isekai's to watch this show. It may sound somewhat boring but there are a lot of cute moments and the art style is very appealing.

   Related to my Japanese study, I am able to understand the term "isekai" better than I did before learning Japanese. Not only did I better understand the show and the Japanese culture involved in the show, but I also was able to see the difference in hiragana and katakana within the show. The differences in inflection and the timing between phrases although not as fast as natural Japanese was very informative for someone trying to grasp such a foreign language. Furthermore, Rimuru himself shows the naming aspect of Japanese culture in a very cute and humorous way for even the simplest of names of some of the monsters he bestowed names too.
